Our programs exceed the minimum requirements that have been set by the Ohio Department of Health for new permanent makeup technicians. The Ohio Department of Health regulates facilities for compliance and does not play a role in PMU education or ensuring that trainers are qualified to teach - OR that training programs are meeting minimum educational standards for prospective students. This means that anyone that has obtained a tattoo license for their facility by the local board of health can offer training which can then be used for a new person to obtain a tattoo license, regardless of proving technical competency as a PMU artist.
Consequently, this has caused predatory tactics towards prospective students in this booming industry because it is yet to be regulated in Ohio. The lack of training requirements has also placed unsuspecting consumers at risk for botched procedures.
Our PMU school is committed to raising awareness regarding the lack of training regulations and competency standards in PMU education for the state of Ohio and is committed to providing students with an appropriate education and required apprenticeships that adequately support the development of new PMU technicians entering the industry.
